Idealist is all about connecting idealists – people who want to do good – with opportunities for action and collaboration. While we are best known as a job board for nonprofits and other social impact organizations, our larger mission is to close the gap between intention and action by connecting people, ideas, and resources. In that spirit, we wanted to share a new initiative called Idealist Days.
The idea is for people to celebrate Idealist Days in ways that envision a better world, create new connections with others, and find action opportunities that make a difference. It could be a day of service at a soup kitchen, a park clean-up, or a brown bag lunch at work to talk about an important issue. It could be a non-profit organization having an open house for the community to get to know them or a museum staying open all night long. The key, in keeping with our mission as an organization, is bringing people together and putting our intentions into action.
Idealist Days happen once each month, on the day when the number of the date matches the number of the month, for example, 6/6, 7/7, 8/8, etc. People around the world, from 16 countries on 6 continents, have participated so far and we look forward to growing our reach even further.
You can learn more about Idealist Days and what events have looked like around the world on our website under Idealist Days. There you can also sign up for our Idealist Days newsletter and join the Idealist Facebook Group if you or your organization is interested in getting involved or hosting an Idealist Day.
